The Cardboard Citizens Experience (Members)
Cardboard Citizens has been making life-changing theatre with and for homeless people for over 20 years. We create great theatre that makes a real and positive difference to our society and those living in its margins. We are the UK's leading practitioners of the Theatre of the Oppressed methodology.
In this training session you will learn how to use forum theatre techniques and examine how they can be applied in both theatrical and training settings. This will be a practical session using Cardboard Citizens’ vast experience of working with people from all walks of life.
The workshop will be lead by Cardboard Citizens’ Associate Artist Terry O’Leary. She is one of the most experienced Forum Theatre jokers (facilitators) in the world.
Terry is a regular guest lecturer at the Central School of Speech and Drama, Warwick University and Southampton University, an experienced Theatre of the Oppressed consultant and facilitator– she worked with Formaat Theatre in Rotterdam. She has also trained theatre practitioners in Australia, Czech Republic and Norway.
Terry currently leads Cardboard Citizens’ forum theatre workshops with homeless people at the Crisis Skylight centre, and is frequently training and directing at a wide variety of projects.
The Workshop will take place on Saturday 4th July 2015 10am-4pm at Diorama Arts Studios, 201 Drummond Street, London NW1. Map

STEP is a borough-wide partnership linking the theatre community and education and youth sector in the London Borough of Southwark. STEP aims to equalise, extend and deepen the theatre and drama experience of all young people living in Southwark through the development of strategic partnerships between schools, youth and community groups and theatres and performing arts organisations. STEP's objective is to work closely with Southwark schools, youth and community groups and theatres and performing arts organisations to develop creative approaches to learning and provide innovative projects which stimulate children and young people's personal development and contribute to their educational attainment.
