No Royal Road to Geometry £15.00

No Royal Road to Geometry

No Royal Road to Geometry £15.00

Euclid was once employed as a tutor of mathematics in the royal household of King Ptolemy I, who complained about the difficulty of the theorems which Euclid expected him to learn.

When the king asked whether there might be an easier way to approach the subject, Euclid gently reproached him: "Sire," he said, "there is no royal road to geometry."

This unique book outlines a series of 10 drama lessons in the famous Mantle of the Expert mode to service the teaching of Geometry. As such it is not only a brilliant resource for anyone wishing to make teaching geometry more accessible to Years 5 and 6 it also gives a practical, well evidenced example of the Mantle of the Expert model of drama teaching.

Geoff Faux is a mathematician and Eileen Pennington is a teacher trainer in Drama.
