Strategies for Managing Challenging Behaviour in Drama (Members)

Strategies for Managing Challenging Behaviour in Drama (Members)

This course will focus on basic tried and tested strategies for dealing with challenging behaviour in drama. It may be of use to any teachers wanting to develop or sharpen practical strategies for managing individual or groups of pupils with difficult behaviour. The course will focus on one scheme of work and be using videotape evidence of best practice in drama. The INSET will be especially aimed at NQTs, teachers with few years drama experience or practitioners who find themselves with growing numbers of pupils on the SEN register.

Sally Brett was trained at Central School of Speech and Drama. She has an MA in Drama and Theatre Education She began her career as a drama specialist in 1980 and has taught in three large London comprehensive schools. In 1989 she joined the teaching team of a special school (MLD/SEBD) as a class tutor and later became Head of Drama with responsibility for setting up drama provision for years 7 to 11 and introducing exam drama. Sally recently became an AST for drama. She has just completed a research project for the DFES that identified effective learning and teaching strategies that enable SEN pupils to achieve in drama.
